Rosie Robinson, MRSS, Project DirectorThe Lord gave Stan and Rosie a vision to open up a drug and alcohol center in 2007. While praying and meditating on God's Word, the name for the center was revealed.
The Brook name came from 1 Kings 17:2-6. Elijah was at the brook and the ravens fed him there. The Brook would be a place where people would find hope and love. They were to teach them that by the Word of God, their minds would be renewed and their lives transformed. Stan and Rosie have been married for 20 years and have 5 children. |

Carla Perry, CPS, MARSMy childhood was crippled with domestic violence and brokenness as well as countless incidents of being molested by several family members, all before the age of 13. I quickly turned to drugs as a way to escape and to quiet the nightmares in my head.
Over time that led me down a path of numerous felonies and three trips to prison. Because of my numerous felony convictions for drugs; the last charges had me looking at two life sentences, plus 14 years! I had been to over 25 treatment centers and rehabs over the years, but this last time was different. I had a "Damascus road" experience with God!!! From that point on my whole life changed. I also incorporated mental health therapy alongside my treatment and wrap services in my community to develop a life that I used to only dream about having. Because of this; the Judge showed mercy and grace towards me and I received 5 years of probation. I have dedicated the rest of my life to serving God and serving others. Since that second chance, I have worked in the field of serving others through being an advocate for domestic and sexual violence, a tech at a sober living facility and working with the homeless community and advocating for resources. I am now able to pursue my passion in full time work in the recovery service's field. Because of God's Amazing Grace and hard work, I have been able to acquire my credentials as a certified Peer Specialist and I am currently working hard towards my Drug and Alcohol counseling credentials with a specialization in trauma and domestic violence. With God, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE !!! :) |

Katie Young, Social Media EngineerA northern California native, Katie recently moved to Missouri with over 14 years of experience in the fields of education and recreation. Graphic design has been a passion of hers from a young age, and she feels fortunate that her previous employers allowed her the freedom to be creative and continue growing her skills.
Katie came to know about The Brook through divine intervention- a brochure that went through many hands until it got to hers. She struggled with alcohol abuse for over a decade and it is only by the grace of God that she is still alive today. Though her ego begged her to not seek treatment, she ultimately took the first step and enrolled in The Brook’s Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program. While attending the treatment program, Katie found ways to fill her time by volunteering at The Brook. Her tasks varied from assisting with fundraisers and events to creating digital art content. To her, it was a win-win. She was able to give back to the people who had never given up on her and her recovery, and she in turn, found a productive, healthy way to stay on the right track. After successfully graduating from the program, she was offered the opportunity to be a part of The Brook team, and gladly accepted the position of Social Media Engineer. |

James Furnish BA Psychology, MAADC II, CPSI was born in Springfield, Mo., and we moved away shortly thereafter. We moved back to the area for my high school years, which led me to leaving for the U.S. Air Force working as a radar/radio technician then retrained as a tactical air control party sergeant once the wars kicked off. I am a 20-year combat veteran of both Afghanistan and Iraq, and I was medically retired in 2017. AI moved to Reeds Spring, Mo., shortly after my retirement. I earned my B.A. psychology degree at Southern New Hampshire University, and I am currently working on my master’s degree in clinical mental health Counseling. My goal is to become a Licensed professional Counselor where I can fulfill my passion for working with Veterans and first responders and help them through their battle with PTSD.
I believe God places people in our lives for a reason which means I also believe God allows things to push us out of our comfort zone and into the place he wants us. |
